EP Shanghai 2024: Cabinet Climate Control for Energy Storage Enclosures

EP Shanghai 2024 ran from 5 to 7 December at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. NOXT took booth 4J68 in Hall N4, inside the energy storage zone, and spent three days talking about one problem with visitors: water inside electrical enclosures.

Event: EP Shanghai 2024
Dates: 5-7 December 2024
Venue: Shanghai New International Expo Centre
Booth: 4J68, Hall N4, Energy Storage Zone

What drew traffic to the booth

The stand showed the full cabinet climate control line: semiconductor and high-power cabinet dehumidifiers, PTC and fan cabinet heaters, mechanical thermostats, electronic hygrostats and digital thermo-hygrostats, plus filter fans and enclosure lighting.

Most conversations started with a site problem. Energy storage integrators described condensation in battery cabinets after night-time temperature swings. Switchgear builders asked how to stop corrosion on busbars in coastal substations. A smaller group wanted to know how to cut the power bill from heaters that run all winter.

Three questions came up repeatedly. What capacity does a cabinet need, how is the set point chosen for a thermo-hygrostat, and how do the units mount without drilling new holes in an IP-rated enclosure.

Condensation control for energy storage

The energy storage zone gave the booth a constant stream of integrators working on racks and containerised systems. Their cabinets cycle between warm battery operation and cold ambient air, which is the exact condition that pulls moisture onto cold metal. The compact dehumidifier line drew the most attention there, with the DC units favoured for retrofit work.

Several visitors brought drawings and asked for sizing help on the spot. Those quotes were prepared after the show with cabinet volume, internal load and target humidity as the inputs.

Follow-up from the show

Every enquiry logged at 4J68 has been answered, and the sizing sheets requested on site were sent within the following week. For engineers who could not attend, the same technical material is available directly.

Send your cabinet dimensions, internal load and target humidity to our team, and we will return a climate control specification for your enclosure.
